The primary focus is on maximal restoration of physical, psychological, social and vocational function and on alleviation of pain. In addition to traditional treatment modes the specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation may use therapeutic exercise, prosthetics, orthotics, and mechanical and electrical devices.
